They are not entirely guitar based and use drum-machines, synths and assorted electronic gimmickry to enhance their sound. Now, while any sane person is naturally phobic of anything hip-hop inspired (except for hip-hop itself of course)- because this usually means MOR dullards like Texas adding a few strategic scratches and beatz to their records - the Folk Implosion fit into this category very well. I saw the category "FOLK IMPLOSION", with a paltry zero opinions next to it, and decided that I should do the honourable thing and write a review. I mean who wasted their time suggesting this category and then not writing an opinion? Now I have to do it, and I'll get about three reads because the Folk Implosion aren't really that well known... some people. For the three people that read this review, if one, or all of you, are not familiar with this brilliant little band, I'll provide a little biographical detail for y'all.
