Advantages: Bon Jovi Live are always good

Disadvantages: Bad selection of songs

"Bon Jovi" and "Live" usually mean something utterly breathtaking : Indeed, they have never failed to amaze me when they are live.

This album was released as a "Plug" for the bands latest tour, "One Wild Night", named after one of the most popular songs on the Crush Album.

I think that someone, somewhere took a look at the most popularly downloaded Bon Jovi songs from Napster and found that the live ones were the ones that fans most readily sought after. Maybe I'm a sceptic, but I just feel that Dollar signs lit up in someone's eyes - Yet another thing for us fans to buy, and sure why not include the songs that everyone knows so that we can pull in an even bigger market.

As for the songs on the album, they are all great live songs, and I would say that any Bon Jovi fan would love it as it includes a lot of the songs played during the recent Crush and One Wild Night Concerts. But I do have a problem with it. The selection of songs is very limited - 8 of them are contained on the Crossroads Album and 3 are from the Crush Album. They fail to include two of their best live songs, "Raise Your Hands" or "Wild in the Streets", and a major mistake - they do not follow "Bad Medicine" with "Shout" as is so very customary of Bon Jovi during concerts.

Despite my complaints, I do enjoy listening to this. As I said, Bon Jovi Live are amazing, and if you have ever seen them live then this album lets you sit back, close your eyes and be transported back to a brilliant night.

So what's on the album?

It's My Life - Really well known, absolute cracker song live. This does not sound exactly like the version that you are used to, but is still very good.

Livin' on a Prayer - a big crowd participation one that is obvious from this recording of what must be one of Bon Jovi's most famous songs.

You Give Love a
Bad Name - another one that is also on the Crossroads compilation, this is a good one live.

Keep the Faith is another popular song by Bon Jovi, the one on this album was taken from a concert that they performed in New York last year.

Someday I'll be Saturday Night, this version was performed in Melbourne, Australia in 1995 - their last gig there until the One Wild Night one earlier this year, this song is from the Crossroads Album and is great live. Pure Bon Jovi.

Rockin' in the Free World was performed in South Africa in 1995, I'm told that this was the first concert that Bon Jovi played there.

Something to Believe in is a not so well known song but it is good all the same - this version was performed to a Japanese crowd.

Wanted Dead or Alive - One of the Band?s most popular songs live, especially for the cowboy era fans, this one was also performed in New York last year.

Runaway was Bon Jovi's first hit. This version was performed in 1985 to a crowd in Tokyo - right back in the beginning.

In and Out of Love, was played at the same concert, yet another of their early hits.

I don't like Mondays was a double act between Bon Jovi and Bob Geldoff in Wembley 1985 as part of the "These Days" tour, I remember listening to this as it was played live on the radio - I will always love this version.

Just Older is a recent song from the Crush Album, and was played in Toronto last year as part to the band's Crush Tour.

Something for the Pain, straight off the These Days Tour in 1995 in their promotion of the album in Australia.

Bad Medicine - yet another classic Bon Jovi song. This version was played in Zurich.

One Wild Night in Toronto, 2000, saw one of the bands most recent hits being played - the song that the latest tour is named after and consequently this album - and brings back memories of one wild night that I will never ever f
orget.

In all, I would say this album is good - but not as good as it could have been. Sorry guys, no full marks this time!
