Only By The Night - Kings of Leon

This year's return of the Kings of Leon has seen the band release their 4th studio album and perhaps their most successful album to date. Since the release of their debut album back in 2003 it's been a gradual rise from the band as each album seems to have gained them a slightly larger following each time. In a buck to tradition thought the Kings of Leon seem to be getting stronger album by album and in fact this latest release is perhaps their best to date. The fourth album and so far most commercial release by Kings of Leon. As soon as I heard "Sex On Fire" on the radio for the first time I immediately thought they had targetted a new audience in an attempt to sell more records. I think the fact that the track became their first UK number one single proves my point as they had not even had a top 10 single previously. Only By The Night is Kings of Leon's 4th album and was released in 2008, this album has been massive this year and has done great on the charts. Only By The Night has a quite mellow rock feel to it, I love the singer Caleb Followills voice. You can buy Only By The Night in most good music stores for around £5 to £10 which is a great price for such an amazing album, if you shopped around online you may even get it cheaper. Now a lot of older Kings of Leon fans will put people off this album by saying things like "It's their worst album yet, you'd know that if you were a fan" and "It's just for commercial purposes". Now I don't know about the second comment but i've got to say, the first comment is a complete load. In fact, I would actually say this is their best album to date, it adds a bit more variety to the tracks unlike older KoL. It takes them in a new direction from the normal Indie rock boys they were in their debut album, this is a much more complete package of an album.
