**Introduction**
If you are a regular reader of my music reviews then you will probably have read at least one review of a Musiq Soulchild album as he is one of my favourite artists around today. With five albums to date he has carved out a very successful solo career since his debut album "Aijuswanaseing" was released in 2000. Since then he has won many awards for his music and has worldwide albums sales topping 15m records. He released his fifth album last year and this is the album I am reviewing now.
**OnMyRadio**
Realising this album was not yet up on dooyoo I decided to request it as I wanted to take one step further in my goal of reviewing all the albums I own from some of my favourite artists which I slightly went away from over the past couple of months due to writing reviews about new music I had come across. OnMyRadio was released in December 2008 and features Mary J Blige and Damien Marley. The album topped the Billboard R&B chart soon after the album's release.

We open things with the track "Back Again" which is a funky up tempo track which has a great beat and some nice claps. His voice is flowing and this is a good starter to the album which shows one side of Musiq Soulchild. "Until" changes things a bit with an interesting mid tempo ballad feel thanks to a jumpy beat and Musiq's gentle vocals. This track has a good flow and is one of the catchiest on the album.
Next up we have the fantastic duet with Mary J Blige. This is an absolutely brilliant track about having to accept that things are over when your partner tells you that the relationship is over. The lyrics that really show the emotion of the song are "If you believe youll do best without me, Ill let it go girl, Its over. But before we say good bye Lets give it a try
If you leave, then baby Ill leave, Ill let it go girl, Its over, But I have no doubt
We can work it out" This shows that even until the last moment a man is trying to work things out. This is a brilliant ballad with both on top form.
Next up we have "Deserve U More" which is a tender ballad about thanking someone for the way they have treated you and stuck by you even though you may not have done the same for them. Another great indication of what Musiq Soulchild is all about. Now we come to "Special" which is another very good track, it opens with a ballad like feel but then the shuffling beat comes in to take this to a mid tempo track which is quite enjoyable with a good flow.
Now we come to another very good track indeed "Dear John" opens with a female talking to herself just checking she's got everything before she leaves and then her mobile phone sounds. This is a very emotive ballad about having to end a relationship that has broken down and the pain and difficultly it takes to do so it's done in a message. This is a great ballad with a Prince feel. This is a brilliant track. Next up we have "Love of My Life" which is another very emotive ballad, this time it's about how you feel when someone you feel so strongly about is no longer with you and looking back on what went wrong and how much you want to make things right.
Moneyright is up next and this is a funky up tempo track with a great beat and some nice percussion that makes you want to tap your feet. This has one of the best flows on the album and is a very enjoyable track all round. Next up we have "Someone" which is an acoustic guitar based ballad which has a lovely orchestral backing and a lovely beat too. Musiq Soulchild's vocal on this track is again very emotive and is one of the keys to the appeal of this great ballad. Very good stuff.
Now we come to the final few tracks here and firstly we have "iwannabe" featuring Damien Marley. This is actually the best I have heard Damien Marley as he doesn't quite ruin this track but he's far from good. Musiq easily outshines him. Good flowing track. Next up we have "sobeautiful" which is a return to the laid back neo soul of much of the album. It opens with a great beat and soft falsetto vocals from Musiq, The song develops into a very good song indeed. Now here's the final track "Radio" which is a catchy track to end on, It has a catchy hip hop feel and you could easily imagine people rocking to this track in a club. A good catchy track to end on.
**Overall**
This (the fifth album from Musiq Soulchild) is a very very strong album with some classic ballads and stands up very well against his previous albums. I would probably give the nod to one of his other albums though due to the fact that this album has only twelve tracks and his others have more. This is another great album from Musiq Soulchild who turns 32 next month. He has many more albums in him and I back him to further enhance his standing as one of the pioneers of neo soul in the future.
