Hot on the heels of Cheryl Cole's successful turn as judge/mentor on the X-Factor, came Girl's Aloud's most recent album. Another bundle of ridiculously catchy pop tunes from the ladies who broke out of their 'Reality TV Winners' shell and 6 years later are more popular than ever. As with most albums, a few tracks are not quite up to the standards of the rest, but overall this is a great follow up to their, in my opinion, best album to date 'Tangled Up'. 'Out of Control' kicks off with number 1 single 'The Promise', a retro-sounding number, and quite Duffy/Winehouse-esque. 'The Loving Kind', co-written by the Pet Shop Boys, exquisitely shows off Nicola's ... Read the complete review

INTRODUCTION I am lucky enough to have tickets to see Girls Aloud in concert this week with my boyfriend, so in honour of that I am reviewing their latest album, Out of Control. Out of Control was released in November 2008, and there was a lot of expectation surrounding it, partially due to the rising celebrity profile of Cheryl Cole whose stint as a judge on the X Factor turned her into a household name. The first single from the album, The Promise, had already been released in October and had gone to number one, which seemed promising. However, having listened to the whole album, I don't think it lives up to that promise. There is ... Read the complete review

22nd December 2002. That was a start of a new Era! Not only was it the year my brother was born, nor was it just the year I got my first computer! It was also the year that British girl band Girls Aloud were brought together. So how did this come about? It all started with ITV show Pop Idol, a reality show where members of the public could sing in front of a panel of four judges. These judges included Pete Waterman, Louis Walsh and Geri Halliwel. Each successful entrant would be put through various rounds, almost like a pop star boot camp. They were split into two groups: girls and boys, and put through their paces with vocal coaching and choreography. Those ... Read the complete review

I love Girls Aloud, they are such a great band and never seem to disappoint with the songs and albums that they release. I was lucky enough to get myself a listen of this album before its release thanks to some good friends of mine, so when it was released I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. I'd never done a review of an album before, but just knew as soon as I heard the album that I had to put up a review to let people know how good this album is, so in went my suggestion (along with the Sugababes new album) and then I wrote my review. I put my Sugababes review up first as the album has been out longer so I'd had more chance to listen to the tracks which ... Read the complete review

Girls Aloud are one of the few successes of reality pop television shows, the other ones being Leona Lewis and Will Young. All others seem to have faded into obscurity, but 6 years later, Girls Aloud are back with their 6th studio album entitled 'Out of Control'. After relative success with their previous albums, the Girls have a lot to live up to, and I was hoping that it was going to be just as good as their previous release, 'Tangled Up'. A quick bit of background about the Girls, although you can't really fail to know at least something about these girls considering how much they are in the public eye at the moment. The band consists of 5 women; Nadine, ... Read the complete review
