Premium Review Pete Tong surprised me with this one! (371 words)
by Laura_lu_uk - written on 31/01/01, updated on 22/09/01 (Very useful, 196 readings)

I must admit that I was not a great fan of Pete Tong but he has worked his magic and really surprised me with this album. There really is a mixture of songs on here. The same category of music with maybe a few songs on the boundaries of house music (because most of it is house), but, with songs like Armend Van Helden's 'Koochy', Public Domain's 'Operation blade', Paul Van Dyke's 'We are alive', Azzido Da Bass' 'Dooms Night', Darude's 'I can feel the beat', Carl Cox's 'Phuture 2000' and RBA'S 'No Alternative'. You cannot go wrong with this album. It is quite obviously as suggested by the ...

Natural Born Killers - Soundtrack

Premium Review It's a killer (2013 words)

Right, off we go again! One of the things I really like about this soundtrack is the varied musical styles showcased here. Many of the Artists are relatively unknown (and still are) but manage to create great pieces to fit into the jigsaw that is “Natural Born Killers”. It’s an odd mixture of songs when looked at on it’s own, but when listened to as a musical score (in order) of the film it works. In fact, this CD probably captures more of the type of hallucinogenic atmosphere that Oliver Stone was trying to create in the movie. It can be dreamy and mellow in some parts, confrontational, loud and angry in others. It’s over six ...

Eyes Wide Shut - Soundtrack

Premium Review Missing the Bond Magic (779 words)
by litefoot - written on 10/02/01, updated on 10/02/01 (Very useful, 127 readings)
Rating:

the most hated! After listening to many Bond soundtracks I can understand ppls' criticisms to some extent. The John Barry soundtracks in particular are excellent, with great uses of the Various Bond themes. Serra hardly uses any Bond music at all, and relies on synthesizers a lot. In fact the music is completely different when compared with other Bond scores. However, its ok as a standalone score; just not a Bond score. The first track on the album is the Bond song for the film, Tina Turner's rendition of 'Goldeneye'. A good Bond song should have a strong lead voice and this is exactly what Turner does have here. Its not as good as Shirley Bassey's ...
