Advantages: It's so beautiful!

Disadvantages: Errrrrr!!!!!!! Still haven't found one

With the music mainstream dominated by dance, garage and R&B, Oasis in shambles, Radiohead tucked away in a recording studio and decent bands absolutely nowhere to be seen, the future of rock'n'roll looked bleak to say the least, step forward Coldplay.

'Parachutes' is just the album rock music needed. A traditional back to basic album. The components being an ecoustic guitar, electric guitar, drums and bass. Sound basic. That's because it is. But that's all we want. Nobody actually wants a group of 'artists' contriving their 'avant-garde' album. What we all want is rock'n'roll played at a level we can all comprehend.

Essentially, Coldplay are Radiohead simplified. Coldplay are Radiohead, but these guys habitate on Earth. They have recorded a quite beautiful record. Lyrically they write about being a reject of love. That's it. Musically they play basic mellow rock. That's it. Only they play the music so well you forget the simplicity and go off above the stars into your own world. The songs are sung so beautifully you believe you are flying. From the upbeat 'Shiver' to the melloncholic 'Trouble' and the spooky 'Spies'.

The future and savour of rock music are here, and here to stay. In a band that sound ironically like The Beatles.
