'Parallel Minds' is an early classic of the power metal genre, not quite up to the standards of something like 'Nightfall in Middle-Earth' by Blind Guardian or Tobias Sammett's 'Avantasia,' but sowing the seeds for many of the genre's big players fifteen years ago. The improvements over Conception's previous album are immense, firstly in terms of the production job which now brings out the full force of the instruments, but also the band's creativity and performance. These songs are genuinely heavy and progressive, traits often lacking even from the most ambitious power metal, and as such will easily be appreciated by those who have been turned off from the ...
