Advantages: Great sound and atmosphere

Disadvantages: Not recommended for new comers

Many Sabbath fans consider this and 1973's Sabbath Bloody Sabbath to be their best albums but listeners shouldn't be under the illusion that they sound similar. This has a very unique sound, not like the grungy Master or Reality or the rock like Volume 4 either
This was the album which projected the Birmingham based band to rock stardom and its easy to see why with classics like War Pigs, Iron Man, Fairies Wear Boots and the title track which has become one of the most famous rock songs ever. The albums doom and gloom, slow and rhythmic sound is featured in every song except Planet Caravan. Which is relaxing and isn't what you'd expect from a heavy metal band. Although the name suggests otherwise the lyrics place a heavy emphasis on drugs and not devil worshipping unlike other bands of the era like Black Widow.

You may well hate this album when you first hear it, you may love it too but just be prepared for either way if you hear it. But even if you don't like it just stick with it and it WILL grow on you, just give it time and it'll become one of your favourtites.

Quite a decent opinion, as you have summed up their sound nicely.
