My review of the Past Masters Vol.2- by The Beatles Past Masters Vol.2- is the (obviously -lol!!) the second (and final) in a series of compilation albums of Beatles songs. Though there are many Beatles compilations on the market, this one is on the less beaten path because it includes 'novelty' and alternative versions of some of their best know tracks. Highlights include - the weird and wonderful -You Know My Name- which is very strange and comical, with some unexpected celebrities taking part; Brian Jones of the R. Essential for the completists - like Volume 1, contains all the tracks that didn't make it onto the official UK Album releases. Picking up in 1965, includes well known mid-period singles such as 'Day Tripper', 'We Can Work It Out' & the fabulous 'I Feel Fine'. From there it gets edgier with probably their first really experimental offering - 'Paperback Writer', & it's wonderful B-Side 'Rain' - these 2 tracks are the pre-cursor to 'Revolver' & the Beatles' studio period. Other Lennon/McCartney standards such as Hey Jude, Get Back & The Ballad of John & Yoko are included, while it is difficult to comprehend that tracks as well ... Read the complete review

The Beatles are arguably the biggest band this world will ever know; clocking up record sales of over one billion, the four working class lads from Liverpool dominated the music charts in the 1960's, leading what was to be known as the 'British Invasion' on the American music market.
