Advantages: 80s indie classics in their earliest incarnations

Disadvantages: poor production techniques

The Smiths are an infuriating bunch of c**ts who will enthrall and delight the ears of a music fan one day and irritate the heck out of the next; I don't know, thats how its always been for me anyways... But I love 'Meat is Murder' and 'Strangeways, Here We Come', hailing them as masterpieces of 80s indie-rock, and... Lets face it: these boys came up with many a feet-tapping masterpiece, and lets not neglect to mention those so-cute-it-should-be-illegal singles such as 'Sheila take a Bow' and 'Girlfriend in a Coma'.

'the Peel Sessions' sees young Stephen Morrisey and overrated guitar-god Johnny Marr flexing still-developing muscles on great tracks such as the forgotten and disappointingly-neglected track 'Handsome Devil', as well as more noteworthy and well-known favorites as 'Hand in Glove'; it is only sorta a snap-shot, and well-worth it for the less-than-casual Smiths fan. Seminal listening for anyone seriously into this group.
