Phantom Power - Super Furry Animals

The Super Furry Animals were a band that I previously overlooked. While perusing a review compilation site, I noticed a recently released and highly rated CD by the above-mentioned. With Phantom Power, they garnered an average score that exceeded the minimum standard of that site's highest possible rating. Considering that a score so high put them in rarified air, I definitely felt obligated to hear what compelled the collective praise. Another great single, with "Golden Retriever", marks the imminent release of their new album, "Phantom Power". But how is the album? Even though I have bought Guerilla, Rings Around The World and Radiator, I still can't help feeling that the Super Furry Animals are more of a singles band than an albums band. We all know what classic albums sound like, sorry to say, I feel there's an indulgence of noodling here again, that marred the last album, Rings Around The World.
