Full title of the review-She looks hot, but does she sound it? ...And will I get a date? >_> Again looking through my mums CD's (see Aerosmith and Nick Drake reviews) I found this, and seeing as how she'd covered a Nick Drake song, I thought I'd give it a try. I'll admit I'm not usually a fan of female artists (they rarely do the music I'm into, but their are exceptions such as Chantal Kreviazuk), and this is infact my first review of a female solo artist. Who is Katie Melua? Before writing this review I just knew her as someone who sang a song about bikes in China ("Nine Million bicycles") and done a rather good ... Read the complete review

Blues by female vocalist isn't usually my cup of tea, but after hearing some of the tracks by Melua on the radio, i thought that i would check thsi out, and i wasn't disappointed (much). This is a good album that breaks away from some of the modern female vocalist instead taking in a different range of songs and music and putting some very nice vocals to them. The vocal of Katie Melua are not what you would call angelic in the style of Norah Jones, but they have a certain sense of frailty and yet strength, which means that she can pull off most styles of music. But the main genre explored here is blues, with many tracks being classics in that area, notalby 'On ... Read the complete review

Katie Melua's debut album "Call Off the Search" went platinum in the UK and made her the biggest selling female artist in the UK for 2004. Personally I wondered whether her second album "Piece by Piece" could possibly meet with the same success. Nearly 2 years later, it looks like Katie has come up with another winner. Price of my purchase £9.97 from Asda There are 12 tracks on the album, most of which are predominantly new ones and several have been written by Katie or co-written with her mentor and producer Mike Batt. The album opens with "Shy Boy" which is a sultry jazzy number followed by the very familiar and ... Read the complete review

Katie, Melua, oh what a voice, the Piece by Piece album is just wonderful! she has such an easy way about her, the sweetest most beautiful sound of her voice is enough to soothe away all your fears. I keep some of her discs in the car and long journeys are so much more pleasant just listening to her velvet tones, this particular cd is a great favourite of mine, just take the time to listen to it once or twice and you cannot fail to be captivated by the beautiful words and her unique tone is magical, to be honest I do have some personal favourites "Nine Million Bicyles" and "shy Boy are exceptionaly brilliant. Of course mention Katie Melua and I am ... Read the complete review

This has to the height of Katie Melua's career! This amazingly relaxing and easy to listen to collection of songs can turn a bad day into a nice, sunny evening. It is an albumn which contains most her most famous tracks such as 'piece by piece' and the no.1 'nine million bicycles'. But these are amalgamated with other, less familiar tracks but which should be no.1 as they are just incredible. I must say that this albumn has to be the best background music to a dinner or just a nice albumn to listen to after a hard days work either in the car or at home. If you are thinking of getting it, I would suggest you think no further and just get it! If you look below at the track ... Read the complete review
