Pieces Of You - Jewel

What we call human nature in actuality is human habit. (A quote from the front of her album) The album Pieces of You by Jewel is one of my favourite albums of all times. It is thought-provoking, beautiful, calming, peaceful and very special. It's one of those albums that the first time you hear it you either love it or you hate it as I do accept that her music is not for everyone. It is very different from the usual pop music that I listen to but it's great to just chill out too. I love Jewel! At one point in my life I actually owned the cassette version of this album, but recently bought the CD after hearing this song on the radio in my local bar. Jewel has such an amazing voice. She sings with so much passion, and every song on this album is amazing. The three most popular of course are "Foolish Games", "Pieces of You", and "You were meant for me". It seems that most of the songs on this album are all about some guy that she is either breaking up with, or misses. I originally heard of Jewel during the winter of 1997/98 when domiciled in Austria as part of my year abroad, and "Foolish Games" was riding high in Casey Casem's chart rundown which used to be a regularly weekly listen if I wanted to get away from the Austropop selection that otherwise shattered my peace. His ramblings were unmemorable until he did a biog about Jewel Kilcher, a then 23 year old from Alaska, who had released an album - "Pieces of You".
