Pin Ups - David Bowie

Released in 1973 at the height of Ziggy mania this album was not one of Bowies best in the eyes of a lot of his fans. The Ziggmaster was on the crest of a wave following the release of some great albums. This is an album of cover versions, a concept that I personally disapprove of, and always seems somewhat wasteful when the artist has the song-writing talent of David Bowie. The idea with this album was that Bowie would cover old songs by other musicians he once worshipped himself (hence 'Pin Ups') Some of the tracks are interesting, such as the versions of Pink Floyd's 'See Emily Play' and the Easybeats 'Friday On My Mind', and 'Sorrow' actually improves on the Merseys' original.
