People have looked at this album as the "left-overs" of Mellon Collie. This is true, technically, but not in such a way that the Smashing Pumpkins are trying to milk the album for every penny. Far from it, it is not an important album in the Pumpkins story (this has become more apparant with the release of the machina stories) but it does speak in a voice all its own. The album has 14 tracks, all of which have some bearing on the bands personal experience with the Mellon Collie era. There are some cover songs on the album too: "Landslide" (Fleetwood Mac) is probably the most heart filled song, along with the first song, "Sooth". ... Read the complete review

This album is taken from b-sides and rarities before the Mellon Collie era, It does not include any material from other albums/box sets (including Aeroplane flies high box set as that is only b-sides from Mellon Collie singles). The E.P. itself I feel is the breathing heart and soul of the pumpkins, it puts everything from their first two albums and congeals it all together to bring out some of the rawest and most delicate moments of the pumpkins career. Pisces Iscariot is different to most pumpkins albums as it is a collection of B sides and other rearities that were never released in the states. if any one has a copy of 'the aeroplane flies high' (or ' the aeroplane flies lower' in which case i'll be round to steal it soon ;-> ) then you will have most, if not all, of these songs. even if you do still buy this as i think it shows a different view into the bands talents and souls, esp. billy's. The songs are some of the best they have done but are underrated because they were b-sides. if you are a fan of the whole 'Mellon collie and the infinite sadness' era then this will definately be ...
