Premium Review Can You Hang Wit' Tha Guerillas? (1041 words)
by XICripZ - written on 24/08/09 (Very useful, 40 readings)
Rating:

Affiliates of the former N.W.A rapper Ice Cube, Da Lench Mob released "Guerillas In Tha Mist" as their debut album in 1992. The South Central LA group, who consist of J-Dee, Maulkie, Shorty and T-Bone, jumped on the scene with this, following their time featured on Ice Cube s first solo effort and with this they are seen to do so with beats all from Cube himself in the typical West Coast G-Funk style. 1. "Capital Punishment In America" (Intro) 2. "Buck Tha Devil" Following a very suitable news snippet, you see that with this one they get right into a jam which takes on beats which are very similar to the most popular track from the album ...

Very original Concept to album doesn't hold up

Bangers throughout Nothing specific

Hip-Hop & Rap - Southern - 2008

Hip-Hop & Rap - East Coast - 1991

One of the strongest Wu solo albums, eclectic and soulful mix of influences A couple of weaker tracks which let the side down

A few big hits Inconsistent

3LW - 3LW
Too much pop

Above The Weeping World - Insomnium
Classic Gothenburg sound revisited, with a faithful and creative performance. Second half of the album runs out of ideas.

Angl - Ihsahn
Classical influences, picks up from where the last album left off. Small sounds that don't seem like to belong in place, but that's what makes the sound complete.

At The Heart Of Winter - Immortal
More developed and enjoyable sound. Guitar borrows distinctly from classic heavy metal, sounding a little out of place.

Silver Spoons And Broken Bones - Stone Gods
Some stomping 1980s style pop-rock tunes Some really awful lyrics.

The Black Halo - Kamelot
Consistent, good atmosphere. Dull and samey.

The Fourth Legacy - Kamelot
More confident and focused release, boasting great variety. Inconsistent, and ballads are quite dull.

Tribute To The Gods - Iced Earth
Many rock and metal favourites. Disappointingly obvious selections, and no attempt to make the sound their own.

Turbo - Judas Priest
Great vocals, impressive guitar work and some effective use of synthesisers. Too many bland and occasionally annoying pop-rock songs.

Unleashed In The East - Judas Priest
Impressive performance of many early Judas Priest classics. Original release is lacking in quantity, and some favourites are always going to be missing.
