The Vengaboys must be the most awful and primitive band ever … they cannot dance, they cannot sing, their lyrics are crap … every song sounds the same and still, they always manage to make it to the top on the charts. Why? Some clever producer realised that their concept works and has developed it. The worst thing is – it works. How can a CD like that make it into the charts? Doesn’t that mean that loads of people are buying it, which actually means they listen to it at home or in the car? This is the most sad thought. I just wonder why that is. Why do people like to get into such primitive things. ‘HEY we’re going ... Read the complete review

The Vengaboys *pronounce it with a B -as in Bengaboys* is what i think of as the Dutch version of Steps. Both have... outrageously camp men (I mean, a cowboy AND a sailor? I hear the call of the YMCA) dance routines female lead singers the use of other people's songs catchy rythmns The platinum album sees the 'new' member (like anyone would have noticed) of Yorick (the sailor) who replaced the other one (I have no idea who the other one was). Tracks: 1 Shalala Lala (Starts off with a "louie louie" intro.) This was released and was a mini-hit, with a dodgey video about laderhosen ... Read the complete review

Well i think overall The Platinum album by the Vengaboys is OK. I must admit it's not my favourite album but doesn't have to be i haven't wasted any money. One of my kids borrowed it from a friend. I must say from a youngsters point of view it's quite good however not as appealing for us adults. The Vengaboys since they started singing produced wacky, very original pieces and they haven't changed a bit. They're definitely unique alright. Although they might be quite weird i'd say for a present to a youngster get it. The album includes some of their catchiest songs with those incredibly weird and wonderful lyrics. Some titles include, ... Read the complete review

I think the Platinum Album dishes out adult-themes in ahem, meaningful and educational ways. Try to listen attentively or simply read the lyrics from the CD booklet. Join Combat Gal Kim, Sailor Boy Yorick, Cowboy Roy and Glitter Gal Denice as they sing about life's agonies; themes that would strike a chord among the working class. With The Platinum Album, I can now titillate not only my ears but my eyes as well. For the price of a CD, I get a bonus VCD that boasts 3 MTVs extravagantly-produced in Tokyo, Denmark and Jamaica and their making-of videos, plus 3 karaoke tracks that Vengamaniacs can croon all day-and-night long. That's not all. Pop the album into your ... Read the complete review

This lot can be quite annoying, but if you take them in small doses, then a smattering of Vengaboys can go down a treat at a party. This was their second album and is awash with pop dance. Who are they: Four piece group, fronted by 'vocalists Kim and Denice. They were at their peak in the late nineties. On this album: The delightful 'Shala Lala' is one of those playful songs which you could imagine hearing at a kid's party. It has a jovial melody and a cheesy tune which will make you think of being on a beach. Dip into 'Kiss When The Sun Don't Shine' for another slice of uplifting cheesy pop. The girls' vocals sound exuberant ... Read the complete review
