Advantages: great tune!
Disadvantages: a bit too short
Safri Duo are German so far as I know, I could be absolutely wrong, but I am sure that they are. Made up of two drum-players (hence the duo). Their single (out now) is called "played a-live - (the bongo song)" and is a superb dance tune that may well become an "anthem" The sound is very familiar to that of the American theatrical act "Stomp" - who make sound by banging dustbin lids together etc... however with Safri Duo's 'song' it is a mix of a drum-beat with electronic drums and electronic music too. The track is only 3.01 minutes long and sounds like it should be longer - it is a good mix with the tune and the mixture of audience noises makes it a great tune. The music video that accompanies the song is not great - a small budget video really, set in a science class, where the band are in a fluid which is put under a microscope = weird. The tune is better listened to rather than watched on TV - with the exception of the first place I saw it - on TOTP where it looked as if they were actually playing it live - I do not believe that they were miming (as it is hard to mine drums) and they looked worn out by the end of it. However, with all singles, the price can be off-putting, I recommend that you get a dance complimation album (which is about £12.99 - I'm listening to it on one now!) :)

The 12" version is about 7-8 minutes long

The y didn't mime on TOTP

Fair enough, but if you want a version longer than 3.01 minutes, you'll need to either buy the UK 12" or an import CD single.
