**Introduction**

Since the release of Boyz II Men's Cooleyhighharmony in 1991 there have been a number of R&B vocal harmony groups come through who have been largely influenced by them. One artist who have had decent success is 112, The quartet hail from Atlanta, Georgia and consisted of Marvin Scandrick, Michael Keith, Quinnes Parker and Daron Jones. Before Keith left the group after a fall out and released his self titled Debut solo album last year. The name of the group comes from the name of the club there were at when they were signed.

**Pleasure & Pain**

Pleasure and Pain is the fifth album from 112 and the last with the original line up. Released in 2005 this album features production from Jermaine Dupri and Mario Winans as well as Sean Garrett, Daron Jones and Bernard "Focus..." Edwards Jr. The album features two collaborations, one with Dupri and one with Three 6 Mafia. The name of the album is taken from the track which featured on their 1996 debut.

**My View**

Intro

This is a short piano led introduction to the album which showcases the smooth vocal harmonies of the group backed by the beat and some decent hip hop hooks.

Let This Go

This is a very flowing track with a great beat, It's about coming to the realisation that things aren't working in a relationship and knowing things need to end for the best. This is a great indication of their flowing vocals and what makes them tick. Good stuff.

What If

This is a brilliant track which opens like a hip hop track but then changes with the brilliant smooth vocals from the group, This turns into a really tender ballad about being sorry for the things you have done and wishing that everything was right and that stuff had never happened. Brilliant track. One of their best tracks.

U Already Know

This opens with a thumping beat and some nice keyboard sounds, The smooth vocals come in and soon this track is in full flow. This is a very nice track which is smooth and seductive. This is a fine bedroom track which is very seductive. Good stuff.

Damn

This has a brilliant thumping beat with some great hooks, This track is about falling for someone at the wrong moment when you wish it was another time so it could have worked, I guess this track is about coming out of a relationship and then getting into another one too soon. This is Another very good track and that beat is so infectious.

Nowhere

This opens with tender keyboard and then a few seconds later the beat comes in, This is a really good ballad about committing to someone and telling them you are going nowhere and want to be with only them. This is a great ballad which shows off their tender smooth vocals.

Last to Know

This opens with a pleasant beat and after about twenty seconds gets into a good flow. This track is not quite as instantly appealing as the best on the album but after a few listens you will probably like it if you like the rest of the album.

I'm Sorry (Interlude)

This short interlude leads into the next half of the album well with a passionate "I'm Sorry"

My Mistakes

This is another track with a great beat, it also features some great hooks and blends the hard hip hop beat with the tender vocals and keyboards. Another very good mix between the hard style and the softer more emotive feel.

If I Hit

This is a club track with a great beat and is almost "crunk" in it's style. This would be a great club track which would go down a great hit with it's catchy bass hook and beat. This is an indication of the variety of their music. Good stuff.

The Way

This track has an amazing bass hook which runs from the opening to the end with the great beat. This track features Jermaine Dupri who provides his distinctive raps on the track. This is a very flowing track which also has a great club feel that would go down extremely well.

We goin' be Alright

This is a total 180 spin from the previous tracks with an awesome acapella from the group that really shows off their vocals for the smooth, emotive tone. This is a really brilliant track which shows the range of their music. Great stuff.

Why Can't We get along

This is a very emotive mid tempo ballad about a relationship which just is not working and you are wondering and asking for answers to why the relationship has gone sour when it used to be so good. The vocals are brilliant on this track especially with the harmonies. This is one of the best on the album.

That's How Close We Are

This opens as though it's going to be another acapella but then the beat comes in and this changes into a fantastic mid tempo ballad about how close you are with your partner. This is a great track with fine vocals, again especially on the harmony parts. Brilliant.

Closing the club

This is the track with Three 6 Mafia and this features a fantastic rolling bass-line which you really need to hear to imagine the sound. This is another great club track. That bass-line is brilliant. Another good collaboration.

What the hell do you want from me?

This is another indication of the range of their music with a gut wrenching bluesy track which is dripping with emotion. This track is about when you can't get a straight answer from your partner about your relationship. whether they want to end it or whether they want to stay with you. This is a brilliant brilliant track.

God Knows

This is another tender moment to close the album with, It features gentle guitar and soft vocals. This is another great track and compliments the previous tracks very well. This again shows the range of their music through this album. Good stuff.

**Overall**

I bought this album with an amazon voucher from dooyoo and this was one of five CD's I bought but this was the only one which I was unsure of, I knew 112 but this was the first album of theirs I bought, I thought I would like a few tracks and the others would be not very good but I have to say that this is a very good album indeed and I will now search for another 112 album to buy. There are four or five brilliant tracks on the album and the rest are not bad too. I certainly wasn't expecting quite such range on the album.
