... work excelling. CRASH needs to be turned up loud as the guitar sounds awesome right from the intro and sends a positive vibe. RADIATION is quite mellow and lacks the energy of previous song though still has wonderful lyrics and decent vocals. SUFFOCATE really comes to life at the chorus with the rest of the song nothing special. DESCEND has a great intro and when the vocals come in the passion and energy add an extra edge to the guitar work and gives an uplifting effect. STEREO WORLD and CHANGE are two solid ...more

Premium Review Polythene - Feeder: A sturdy bridge between "Swim" and "Yesterday Went Too Soon" (296 words)
by - written on 05/08/08 (Very useful, 5 readings)
Rating:

"Polythene" creates a perfect bridge between Feeder's early "heavy" days (see Swim) and the more mainstream Brit-rock "Yesterday Went Too Soon". The opening track "Polythene Girl" feels a little weak to me. I much prefer the rockier sounds of "My Perfect Day". Once the album really gets rolling, it continues in a typically bright Feeder-fashion. "Cement" and "Crash" make a cute pair of rock songs, the former would fit nicely with the tracks on "Echo Park" - with it's bitterly humorous lyrics "I had a watch engraved in Switzerland... today I saw her buying a magazine, it's time ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Look me in the eyes punk and tell me they are dull (1451 words)

I was challenged to review this by fellow member Crazy-Christian after I commented to him that I thought Feeder were bit dull. As a result of my mouthing off I now find myself reviewing an album of his choice by the indie-rockers. Mmmmmm, can’t wait. And luckily some community spirited chap pointed out I’d reviewed some special import version BEFORE Crazy-Christian got back from holiday so I can tidy it up before he mocks me. * Polythene Girl * Opening up with some backwards guitars and a little synth riff the light hearted intro’s nice and cheerful and pretty good. The chorus is fairly standard grungy rock and so not bad ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Polythene - Feeder: Wrap me in Polythene (1263 words)

Feeder’s best album! ‘Buck Rogers’ may have been a top 5 single, but a novelty hit’s worth nothing compared to the legion of fans this album earned. This was their first full album, preceded by a 6-track EP called ‘Swim’ (recently re-issued as an extended version). Since, they’ve released ‘Yesterday Went Too Soon’ and ‘Echo Park’, with more commercial success. I must admit, while I have the other albums, I haven’t heard all of Echo Park yet, but the reviews suggest that by aiming between two schools it’ll probably end up as most people’s second favourite Feeder album. You see, ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Life In A Stereo World (1560 words)

Rating:

Feeder – One of my favourite bands at the moment, been around for the past 5 years or so. Members – Grant (Vocals Guitar), Taka (Bass), Jon (Drums). Grant and Jon are from Wales and Taka is from Japan. Why do I like them? - They offer a unique blend of pop/metal/rock, they’ve released some brilliant songs such as Sweet 16, Shade, Insomnia, Yesterday Went Too Soon, and songs from the latest album Buck Rogers, Seven Days In The Sun and the forthcoming Turn. Plus I’ve seen them live at a mini gig, as well as having a signed Buck Rogers Single and have shook hands with the 3 members! Polythene? – Polythene is the ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Polythene - Feeder: Build Me Wings So I Can Glide (1005 words)
by - written on 26/05/08 (Very useful, 75 readings)
Rating:

Released in 1997, 'Polythene' remains to be my favourite Feeder album right to this very day. From start to finish this album is absolutely excellent, always the music is packed full of energy and never is the sound created here anything short of exceptional. Feeder is a Welsh rock band that has been going now since 1992, 'Polythene' was the bands first full length studio album and comes complete with thirteen tracks totalling over 51 minutes of music. So many of the tracks impress hugely here, Feeder's debut album is a highly impressive one and certainly the music has plenty to offer. Starting with 'Polythene Girl', immediately the album grabs you and not ...  Read the complete review

Some signs of talent Album quite average

The lyrics, music & vocals, A "different" album None that I can think of

Brilliant tracks varying from punky to poppy Short

Has plenty of songs that can easily be related to life in general. The odd crazy/mad lyric and song.

Tyler Ritter's voice, a very talented band I haven't listened to it for a few years, must be a reason why

Fantastic use of keyboard throughout the album, excellent vocals. If you don't like one, chances are you won't like any.

The Scream - Siouxsie and the Banshees
Original for its time, highly influential Certainly not to everyone's tastes.....

The Room's Too Cold - Early November
Hardcore - 2003

Teknowhore - Bile
More atmospheric and compelling than the previous album. Some bizarre commercial deviations that don't sit well, and generally overlong and tedious.

Io Sono Nato Libero - Banco Del Mutuo Soccorso
Higher production values and continuation of the classical style. Structural problems from the first album are back in full force, spoiling all songs to some extent.

In Love And Death: Parental Advisory - Used
Riffs, Lyrics, Catchy Voice Some songs quite depressing

Illumination - Paul Weller
Very romantic, includes the song "It's Written in the Stars" Not all of the songs are as good

Grind Bastard - Benediction
Catchy, riff-driven death metal, with some interesting classic rock/metal covers. Sound is repetitive, and the album perhaps lasts a little too long for its style.

Coronation Thieves - Dragons of Zynth
Pop - 2007

Blindside - Blindside
A less aggro-centric Slipknot with slightly more musical ability. Nothing original, merely an obvious smorgasbord of influence.
