Neon Nights - Dannii Minogue ... Minogue, younger sister of Kylie often criticised for living in her shadow, came up trumps with one of the finest pop albums ever in Neon Nights. After a succession of flops throughout most of the 90s, Dannii turned it around and carved out her own name and identity with the Neon Nights era. She guested on trance act Riva s instrumental track in 2001 and it emerged as Who Do You Love Now , which became a top 3 hit. This was followed a year later with sexy, sugeestive electronica in Put The Needle On It which crashed into the top 10, and in 2003 she hit #2 with the electro-pop-dance I Begin To Wonder , followed by the release of this album which went top 10. Shoot From The Hip - Sophie Ellis-Bextor ... on from the hugely successful debut Read My Lips which sold over 800,000 copies in the UK alone and was an international success, Sophie returned in late 2003 with her second effort Shoot From The Hip. The album was a huge flop for Sophie, it only peaked at #19 in the album charts, spending just two weeks in the top 75 and selling short of 100,000 copies in total. I think the real big mistake was releasing Mixed Up World as the first single. Although decent, it was weak as a single and underperformed, dragging the album down with it. X - Kylie Minogue ... a prolonged break post the release of her Ultimate Kylie set to deal with some personal issues, Kylie returned to her place on the pop throne with her 10th studio album, titled X. The album s lead single 2 Hearts is actually nothing like the album itself, which in turn shows that this is a diverse pop album exploring various styles within the pop spectrum.
