Advantages: Highly enjoyable musically and vocally

Devil Driver's latest album "Pray for Villains" is far from the pop genre that dooyoo has put it in, it is in fact one of the best metal albums released this year so far.

The groove metal band out of California play perhaps faster than ever on this album with numerous fast gritty songs kicking out anger with lyrics rather suitable to hardcore like the powerful chorus on "Back with Vengeance", the band's influences come through with "I've been Sober" having tinges of melodic metal like In Flames.

Numerous other tracks take obvious influence from Pantera and Motorhead but Pray for Villains are very much their own men and combine all of these influences to come up with a relentless yet changeable album that will please the ear of most metal fans.

There's a bit of everything here with distorted and chugging riffs blasting their way through songs like a wild storm and at other times it goes calm with some stunningly clean sounding solos. The band's 4th album is definitely their best work so far and they even do justice to Wasted Years, an Iron Maiden song.

Things definitely bode well for the future for these guys with the range of sounds coming out of the fivesome, if you like metal and give this album a go, you'll be sure to come back for more.
