In the run up to this album, Courtney Love married Kurt Cobain (the lead singer/songwriter of Nirvana). For a time they reigned majestically over the new grunge/rock scene. As dramatically popular and critically acclaimed as these two were together, things were going to start to take an ugly turn for the worst. If you like the Spice Girls, the Corrs and value your hearing, don't bother with this album. Back in 1991 when this album was recorded Courtney who a punk diva who alternates between screaming out her anger and moaning in a tortured fashion. The album as a whole contains a couple of good tracks: 'Teenage Whore' is shockingly compelling and 'Pretty on the Inside' depicts female jealously extremely well. However, I felt that most of the tracks go on a little too long and seem a touch repetitive. Certain lyrics really stand out as being excellent: others seem like garbled nonsense.
