Primary Colours is the second album made by the british new wave/alternative rock group called The Horrors. Its sound could have been described as a mix of various musical genres and artist. Let's point out just the most evident ones as: Joy Division, The Pixies adn The Sonics. Album contains 10 tracks. I also have to mention that special Japanese edition of the album has three bonus tracks. The Horrors has used various producers for this album (Geoff Barrow, Craig Silvey, Chris Cunningham). A lot of bands these days seem to come out with a vibrant and different debut album which is often a bit raw and then release a blander but technically better second album which receives heaps more praise than the better debut from critics and thus more air-play, I think this is the case of Primary Colours by The Horrors. Supposedly they've matured according to the music press, I miss the upbeat music and silly dark lyrics though. It's been replaced by an electronic heavy Joy Division rip-off sound, the vocalist does retain a very adaptable voice though as he goes for a hammered Shane MacGowan sound on the title track.
