Earth A.d./die Die My Darling - Misfits

Premium Review A more brutal sounding Misfits (311 words)
by dangaroo - written on 09/04/09 (Very useful, 43 readings)
Rating:

approach won over as many fans as it lost. What the album lacks in catchy Ramones like punk, it makes up for with invention. This album is the link between Misfits and Danzig s 2nd band Samhain, fortunately for me I m a big fan of Samhain. Gone is the bubblegum sound and talk of aliens and B-movies as the band plough onwards with a rough, dark and to some extent brutal sound. The imagery conjured up by the lyrics is no longer ghost stories in the playground, it s full on gore! Despite this - all of Danzig s bands have the same thing in common and that s catchyness and this album is non the different. This is the graveyard, you will be happy to grin in! This album has ...

Walk Among Us - Misfits

Premium Review The Misfits at their best! (282 words)
by dangaroo - written on 02/03/09 (Useful, 35 readings)
Rating:

If you take a look at the Misfits discography there should be one album that sticks out and that one is "Walk Among Us" - it is horror themed punk at its best retaining the poptastic fun of The Ramones whilst similarly rocking out at full pelt with relentless speed and accuracy. In punk, the chorus matters and few bands come up with the catchy lines that The Misfits managed - this album is proof of that as it starts off strongly with 20 Eyes and I Turned Into A Martian. There s nothing not to be enjoyed about this album as the music s melody and catchiness is brought to the listener through a barrage of punk rock and a Ramonesesque like Danzig voice. There s ...

Evilive - Misfits

Premium Review Evil indeed (446 words)

have to mention that it is live! So if you are looking for studio recorded album dont get this. This album has 12 tracks from the classic Misfits collection all performed live. The obvious differences to a studio version therefore is the fact that the sound quality sucks (yeah its really that bad) and also the songs are performed heavier than on other albums (i.e. imagine Glenn Danzig jumping around stage screaming his head off, well thats pretty much it). I think the best songs on the album are Astro Zombies, Horror Business, Devils Whorehouse and We are 138. We are 138 also features Henry Rollins (Black Flag). Unfortunately, there is no "i turned into a ...

Hardcore - 1999

Hardcore - 1999

good songs, catchy lyrics one or two tracks are a bit similar

Nearly all tracks are brilliant, cheaper than most CD's, tracks maybe hard to get hold of are featured Lack of publicity, WHY werent some made A-Sides?

A couple of tracks are quite impressive. Most of the tracks are really quite disappointing and have little to offer.
