Advantages: Elvis singing in the 1970s

Disadvantages: Mr. Songman is quite a boring song

PROMISED LAND is an album by Elvis Presley which was originally released in 1975, two years before Elvis' passing. The material had been recorded in Memphis in 1973, and the album is in a sense a companion piece to another album, called GOOD TIMES, as the material for that album was recorded at the same sessions.

Songs featured here include the title track (a cover version of the Chuck Berry classic), which is a really funky song, THERE'S A HONKY TONK ANGEL, and one of my favourite songs IT'S MIDNIGHT - this is a heartbreaking song with Elvis singing about how much he misses a lost love (it's hard to imagine that Elvis was not singing about his ex-wife Priscilla, who had divorced him earlier in 1973).

My least favourite song on the album is MR. SONGMAN - it has a nice piano introduction but apart from that it is really quite boring.

If you like Elvis in the 1970s then this is an album you should own.
