Pump up the valium or rather pump up the valuum as the album is really called is a play on words to avoid copyright from another band, however it's the eighth studio album from the punk band nofx and was released in 2000.

The first song off the album is and now for something completely similar, perhaps an indication of a song that is going to be similar to their others? And its not far wrong either, a similar light heated punk style to some of their previous songs and a fast paced song, its nice but its only short at under a minute and I would have liked to see where they could have taken this song as it had a nice start.

Dinosaurs will die is the fourth song off the album and one of my favourites in particular its got a really nice opening with a palm muted guitar and some really good effects on the singing voice which isn't usually something nofx do, the verses are really fast as well and have really good guitar parts behind them. The song has a kind of sad sound and style of singing behind it however its fast and edgy and its just a really great song.

Stranger than fishin in another song off the album I really like, its track number eight and its another fast one which is mainly built by the punchy short verses and the chorus is really great as well. Its not a very long song though and I would have loved to see this one run on a touch longer, like the first song as well.

It's a tough choice for my favourite song between dinosaurs will die and this track, its called bottles to the ground and I think it just edges ahead of all the competition. Its got a really cool start for a song and seems like its going to be a really slow song, but as soon as the chorus comes in the song just builds so much pace and turns into an upbeat song. Its just fantastic.

One of the best albums released by the band, it features some really great songs, and none of the songs on here are bad at all so its really consistent as well, if you like nofx you should already have this one, if you don't then check it out any way.

Summary: a great punk album
