They were called ‘Southern Death Cult’ in 81, then Billy Duffy joined in ‘83 and they changed their name to ‘Death Cult’ and finally in 1984 to ‘The Cult’ (apparently because it made them sound like a Goth band). Beggars Banquet must have felt there was a market for these ‘best of’ releases. The question is ‘why is there still a market for a band that seemed to change with each album to adjust to the latest tastes?’ ...

I do have the Cults albums but on vinyl and unfortuantly I have no record player! This album is a "best of" album so it has most of my favs on and saves me from buying all the other albums! The Cult are a rock band and as this album cover quotes its "for rockers, ravers, lovers and sinners"! The most well known song from the Cult has to be "She sells Sanctuary". A few years ago they even released a dance version of it but Im pleased to say that it is the original that kicks of this album. The group was originally called 'The Southern Death Cult' and eventually shortened it to the Cult. The appeared on the Tube in late 83/early 84 and eventually toured the States/ They 'borrow' ...

Album contains a number of excellent highly sexed dirty electro anthems.
It's not perfect, there is most certainly room for improvement.

A harder and heavier approach to prove the band's punk rock integrity.
Material itself is weak and uninspired.

Pure Hip Hop
Attempts at other styles fail
Attack Of The Killer B's - Anthrax
Some good hardcore-thrash crossover stuff, and interesting new material.
Comedy songs are a bit rubbish, and some of the covers too basic.
