Rock On Queen!!! (Queen Rocks - Queen)

There was a time when I thought Queen Greatest Hits I was the best album ever, and it is good, but I think this is my favourite Queen compilation. It is a collection of Queens rockiest tracks, kicking off with the wonderful ‘We Will Rock You’ and the quick paced rocker ‘Tie Your Mother Down.’ I started my Queen collection with the Hits collections, and compared with those, this album contains extended versions of many of the tracks, namely ‘One Vision.’ The introduction is vastly greater than that of the Greatest Hits II version. The vocals don’t come in for one and a half minutes, and there’s some fantastic playing from Brian. Most of Queens best rock tracks are all there; ‘I want It All,’ ‘Seven Seas of Rhye,’ ‘Keep Yourself Alive’ and many more. The compilation ends on a sombre note, however, with a song composed by Brian May, and recorded especially for the album by the band without Freddie, which is all about his departure. It was also inspired by the death of Diana, Princess of Wales. The song, ‘No-one But You (Only the Good Die Young)’ is a fitting tribute to Freddie’s memory, and it’s a great song. It rounds off an album which could, without it, be too much head-banging fun! Anyway, Rock On!!! Summary: |
