... seems to be a bit monotonous. It's almost like this is an experimental, slightly psychedelic version of Cuban music with hints of jazz thrown in. I am not enamored with the vocals on this album, the backing vocals are fine but the main vocalist sounds like he's got a hot potato in his mouth and doesn't seem to have a very memorable style at all (at least not in a good way!), even tracks like Llegaron las Viadas which speed up and I imagine tell a story of some type don't seem particularly energetic. Conga Electrica is the 2008 release by New York Cuban styled band Quimbombo. I had relatively big hopes for this but my lack of knowledge of Cuban music has perhaps let me down. I'm only aware of a few artists and this album seemed a little slow in comparison to the ones I knew.
