The Way It Is - Keyshia Cole: ... track but it doesnt have the same spark that the first uptempo tracks do. It is still a good track but just doesnt have the same ring as the others. The music is good on this track though. 6. Love This has an early nineties R&B feel and has a heavy drum beat with some nice piano in the background. Her voice sounds really emotive and pained. She is a really expressive singer who has a great knack of ma...

pink_glitter Motown Hitsville USA - Boyz II Men
... pushed on us. This is a nice track, very soft and soulful and I think this it is perfect for sort of background music over dinner with a bottle of wine - I mean that in a nice way, honest!! 4. Tracks of My Tears - Originally sung by Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, this again is a more up-tempo version of the original, sung immaculately, and doesn't take too much from the original, if anything it's an improvement. 5. Money (That's what I want) - I was never a big fan of the original track and can't say I'm a huge fan of the cover either - it's just not my type of song. 6. Easy - I would say that of all the songs on this album, Easy by Lionel Richie is one that...

nathaninnit Departure - Taio Cruz
... 'Moving On', that had a more individual message that his previous down-tempo release and mixed a more exciting beat with an emotional message. With the artists songwriting ability beginning to emerge, this song was reminiscent of what a British version of Ne-Yo ('So sick of love songs') might do. The track charted at #26 in the charts, and was all about having the ability to move on from a relationship, probably making it one of the easiest tracks on the album to relate to. Anything that could earn the artist a tag similar to that of Ne-Yo's must be worthy of five stars as well, and whilst I hope I haven't been overly generous with my stars in this review, the amou...

ButterBear Essential Collection - Edwin Starr
... the first 2 tracks that have the more "modern" Disco/Funk feel to them with the remaining 15 being Motown to the core, think early Diana Ross minus the Supremes and you've got the right musical style, lots of brass instruments, soft drum beats, harmonious feminine backing vocals and swinging melodies. There's none of the over production of modern albums, traditional instruments are the key with little use of modern technologies, to have seen these performers live would have involved a stage full of talented musicians and singers all headed by the charismatic Edwin Starr. It' the kind of music that makes a great background for a warm spring day, uplifting an...
