Murder on the Dancefloor

I bought the Sophie Ellis Bextor album, Take Me Home a few years ago and it's still one of the ones I listen to. However, I generally only listen to a few tracks as I like the first part of the album but am not really thrilled about the rest of the tracks.

Sophie Ellis Bexter is a singer who has had relative success but I wouldn't say she is a big massive star. Her second album did well but not as well as this album as it only reached number 18 in the charts and she has since taken time off to start a family. Her sound is very pop, electric, dance style tunes which I generally quite like as they are fun to sing along and dance too.

Sophie is the daughter of Janet Ellis who was a presenter on Blue Peter back in the early eighties. She began her musical career in 1997, with an indie band called theaudience. She's quite pretty, with dark hair and clear skin which I think has added to her success in this business. She has a different look to some other people in the industry and generally has quite quirky make up and really interesting clothes.

Her voice is quite interesting too, it's fairly low and has a bit of a twang to it.

Read my Lips was her debut album and was released in 2001. THe cover is quite simple but works well. It features a picture os Sophie ont he front in black and white with her name Sophie Ellis Bextor written across the front. It has sold over 2 million copies worldwide. The first song on the album which is one of my favourites is called Take Me Home and was originally recorded by American singer and actress, Cher. I was actually unaware of this as I have never heard the Cher version but I do like Sophie's version.

My other favourite track on the album is song number 4, Murder On the Dance Floor, and was her best selling single to date. This track is a brilliant song for the dancefloor as it suggests and as such became the most played song of 2002 in all of Europe.

The rest of the tracks on the album are as follows:
"Take Me Home"
"Lover"
"Move This Mountain"
"Murder on the Dancefloor"
"Sparkle"
"Final Move"
"I Believe"
"Leave the Others Alone"
"By Chance"
"The Universe is You"
"Is It Any Wonder"
"Everything Falls Into Place"

She likes XTC, so she's OK with me.

Yay for Sophie!

Loads of immense back information, but what about the album and the songs? You forgot to talk about them!
