Greatest Hits - The A-Teens
by benlepensive - written on 20/02/09 (Very useful, 19 readings)
Rating:
One of my favourite Swedish pop groups. It is a shame they never achieved The same level of success in the UK as they did overseas. This album gathers some of their biggest hits. Who are they: Origanally designed as a spin off teenage version of Abba (covering Abba songs) the group changed their name from Abba Teens to A-Teens and started exploring their own material. Marie Serneholt, Amit Paul, Dhani Lennevald and Sara Lumholdt are the four vocalists. On this album: Their version of Mamma Mia is more dancey than the original. Sqeaky clean vocals from the girls, a pounding beat and furious synths drive it. It is a pleasing take on the song and a good way to open the ...

Teen Spirit - The A-Teens

Rating:
One of my favourite Swedish acts, The A Teens (who by this point dropped the Abba-Teens bit) are always capable of churning out solid pop stuff. This was their second album and is an improvement on the debut. Who are they: Marie Serneholt, Amit Paul, Dhani Lennevald and Sara Lumholdt make up the group. The girls tend to do most of the vocals though. On this album: Upside Down is as good a pop song as you re ever going to get. With a bouncy chorus, oodles of energy and cute verses you can t go wrong. It is the kind of song which S Club should have been doing! They follow up with To The Music which is equally catchy and has one of those melodic choruses which gets ...

The Abba Generation - The A-Teens

Here is a blast from The past, one of my most under rated groups! Think of Abba then imagine them appealing to a younger audience and you re on the right track Who are they Marie Serneholt, Amit Paul, Dhani Lennevald and Sara Lumholdt are the four vocalists. They hailfrom Sweden. On this album: This album is basically an Abba tribute album, containing their versions of famous Abba songs. It gets underway with their take on Mamma Mia which is done with style and charming enough vocals from the girls. It is more dancey and lively than the original by Abba. The rest of the album follows suit. Highlights: Their version of Gimme Gimme is feisty, a dancefloor appeal ...
