Rating:
Interesting that this should be called 'Real 80's', suggesting that there might be a 'Fake 80's' doing the rounds somewhere. Spread over three discs, there are some classic cuts on here and also some special extended versions. Kraftwerk kick things off. The sound has dated badly, but it is great to return to for nostalgia. 'The Model' is creepy, haunting and mesmerising and you can hear their impact on todays artists; I cite La Roux and Chromeo. Head next to David Bowie, where he turns in an effortless vocal on the hushed 'Ashes To Ashes.' The Story So Far - Spunge
A couple of decent tracks, the music is quite fun and upbeat.
Some of the tracks have a habit of plodding along in tiresome fashion.
The Truth - Cherish
harmonies, vocals ride the music
one sister's vocals aren't great, bland Before You Were My Man
The Lines Of Unreason - Pitchblend
A pleasant album, the songs are well constructed.
The album lacks oomph, extremely similar in sound to Placebo.
The Look Of Love: The Very Best Of Abc - ABC
Great Music.
None
The Middle Kingdom - Cruachan
Folk metal classic, covering a range of styles and moods.
Sometimes the deviations are too much.
The Pink And The Lily - Sandi Thom
The ballads are a bit better this time around
Not quite so many catchy songs as her debut
The Spell Of Retribution - Chasm
Epic death metal done properly.
Influences show through a little too much.
The Wedding Dance Of The Widow Bride - Geoff Berner
Funny, witty, clever; it's klezmer music
Unnecessary Leonard Cohen cover
The Top - The Cure
A couple of the songs are really psychedelic and mad
The production isn't the best, a couple of the songs sound really dated
