Advantages: Good Choice of tracks, Its Screamin' Jay!
Disadvantages: On most collections., Its Screamin' Jay!
I got this CD last year at some grotty (but cool) record shop in Brighton. It was Recorded in France in 1983, when Screamin' Jay was on holiday there. And according to the sleve notes it was Jays first new LP in 10 years. (from 1976 - 1978 he wsa inactive due to a stage accident, dont know what he did, but it Beats James Hetfields Burn by at least 16 months!) THe recording has 11 tracks on it, with the exception of 'Get Down France' they are all available on compilations and other recordings. The band quality is good enuff, and they do not detract from the tunes in any way. We have a nice split of Operatic renderings (Deep In Love) , Good Time blues (Your Kind of Love, I Feel Alright), social comment blues (Poor Folks), and a Large dash of over the top Screamin Jay (Feast Of the Mau Mau, Mountain Jive, Constipation Blues, Alligator Wine). THe Pro's - All the songs are Classics (except for Get Down France) The Cons - Because they are all classics you can get em on most Compilations. Conclusion. THe Cd was cheap - £2 in fact. So if you can find it it is a real easy way to get an 11 track 'greatest hits' for next to nothing. But if you already own 'Spells and potions' or 'Alligator wine' you have em all bar 'Get Down France'. The music is Damn Good though. must go and listen to it.

In my experience, the coolest record shops are always grotty - that's just the way it seems to be (and there are some good ones in Brighton too!)
