... I could easily imagine hearing any of these songs live. Bowie wrote all but two of the tracks, 'Pablo Picasso', which was written by Jonathan Richman and 'Try Some, Buy Some', which was written by George Harrison. Several tracks stand out for me, I particularly liked the riff on 'Looking For Water', but my favourite song is probably 'Days' because of the theme of the song, but also I thought David's singing was quite moving. Although there were a few songs I wasn't as keen on, I would be hard-pushed to say any ...more

Premium Review Reality - David Bowie: Alternate Reality (991 words)

Rating:

David Bowie has had a career spanning four decades (and still going!). He is a master of reinventing himself and his music. Through the late '80s and early '90's many people criticised his album releases and thought that maybe he had dried up creatively; however 2003's release of 'Reality' shows that Bowie still has the writing skills that made him famous in the first place. 'Reality' has a good mix of song, from the fast-tempo of the opening track "New Killer Star", to the more subdued pace of songs such as "Days" and "Bring Me The Disco King", the album offers the listener varied styles and sounds, but without seeming ...  Read the complete review

Reality 11. Bring Me the Disco King David Bowie gets no respect! When legendary artists are versed, Bowie is unjustly placed a couples tiers below the likes of John Lennon, Elton John and etc... Since 1969's Space Oddity, this near mythic being has been prolifically cataloguing an immense aggregate of music, trends and followers. None of this matters. My peers endlessly target Bowie with flames. ...  Read the complete review

David Bowie Reality As a follow up to last years Heathen album, David Bowie has recently released the Reality album, a disc of new material, which in my opinion is his best in years. My version is the Special Edition with bonus disc of unreleased material. The album starts off with New Killer Star. This was preformed last week on Late Night with Jonathan Ross and is the first single from the album. This has a very catchy chorus and is quite a bright, uplifting song. It is miles away from last year?s tracks from Heathen, which were quite slow. This has a great video to go along with it, so get the single and READY SET GO!! Pablo Picasso Is ...  Read the complete review
