This is the first time I had listened to Newton Faulkner, as I had never really crossed his work despite being an acoustic guitarist and solo artist, but I felt from the second I sat down and really listened not with my ears, but with my soul, that I had to put pen to paper to preach his musical genius. The opening song, 'Badman', displays straight away his cunning and how he has found a variety of ways to utilise his weapon of choice - using a scraping effect to seemingly glide between chords. Newton Faulkner burst onto the music scene with his hit 'Dream Catch Me' and his excellent cover version of Massive Attack's 'Teardrop' on his album 'Hand Built By Robots' in 2007. With a strange name and appearance (long ginger dreadlocks), he's not your typical musician pin-up, which is great as his folk-rock music and talent speaks for itself. His unique guitar playing style is jaw-droppingly impressive, as he uses it as a drum just as much as a guitar.
