... a good first impression of the album. The intro is good, it draws you into the song and the singing style in this one is great, fast, but short lines at first then it slows down for the chorus and the mixture of the two sound really good together. Track number three is a really good track, American Jesus is one of my favourite songs by Bad Religion, is not very fast and its one where you can hear him sing well, the guitar to it is just so well written and it makes the song very catchy. Don't pray on me is another...more

Premium Review Recipe For Hate - Bad Religion: recipe for hate (367 words)

Rating:

Recipe for hate was bad religions 7th full studio album release, it was released in 1993 and by this time making great punk rock albums seemed to be coming naturally to Bad Religion. There songs were getting better and better with each album release, and their fan base was getting bigger and bigger too. They were offered a better deal at Atlantic records and therefore this was their last album released under Epitaph records who they were previously signed with. The first track, recipe for hate is the opening song and it does a good job in putting out a good first impression of the album. The intro is good, it draws you into the song and the singing style in ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review We've got the American Jesus - See Him on the Interstate (577 words)
by - written on 25/06/08 (Very useful, 25 readings)
Rating:

Released in 1993, 'Recipe for Hate' is the seventh studio album released by Bad Religion; an album which contains my personal favourite Bad Religion song 'American Jesus'. The album consists of fourteen tracks and has a total run time of just over 37 minutes. This was Bad Religion's last release on Epitaph Records before leaving for the Atlantic record label; the band did however see a return to Epitaph in 2001. Although the album does behold my favourite Bad Religion song of all time, it's definitely not my favourite album by the band and if I were to create a list of my favourite Bad Religion albums of all time then 'Recipe for Hate' would certainly rank someway down ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Recipe For Hate - Bad Religion: Blood of the Hybrid (316 words)
by - written on 08/02/08 (Very useful, 17 readings)
Rating:

Bad Religion's final album on the independent Epitaph label is their second and final attempt to produce something different from the norm, before returning to their customary style for subsequent works. While 'Generator' was more focused on packing in ideas and bulking out the songs, 'Recipe for Hate' takes the satisfyingly different approach of incorporating elements of country and folk music into songs that have otherwise returned to the earlier style. This slower and more old-school Americana approach to songs such as 'Man With a Mission,' 'All Good Soldiers' and 'Don't Pray on Me' is very successful, predating Green Day's similar direction towards the end of the ...  Read the complete review

Some great, bouncy cheesypopmetal It was produced by EMI, without the band's input

Every track is amazing in its own way Some great tracks missing that deserve a place

An excellent live album, fantastic from start to finish. The songs all sound very similar, this may put some off listening.

Fine return to form, without selling out. Abandons the experiments of recent years in favour of a more commercially viable sound.

Songs all cohesively flow, some monsters of tunes. Too Short? maybe.

The album consists of a number of excellent punk rock tracks. Not so strong as 'No Control' or 'Against the Grain'.

An energetic album which finely mixes the genres of rock and electronica. The vocal style of Midasuno will be off-putting for some.
