I only discovered the delights of Crowded House in my experimental college period of 1995. Bored of the relentless playing of Oasis, Pulp and Blur I longed for something different, something dare I say it...not Indie. Wandering the aisle of a music store I found this Best Of Crowded House collection truly fitted the bill with their bizarre mix of folk rock, pop and country. At a time in my life when everything seemed so serious this band helped me to reflect, relax and enjoy myself. Now on reading the insert Crowded House had been around since 1986; their name derived from their living conditions on forming; however, I only knew of them from their hits ... I'm not sure when I first became conscious of Crowded House, maybe, '91 or '92. I wasn't really into them, at the time. But, was made forcefully aware of their presence by "Weather with you", as was the rest of the music playing world. It was uncommonly good, and soooo catchy, one of those unforgettable songs. My sister had the "Together Alone" album, and I took a mild interest in it, casually listening to it when she had it on. It wasn't until I heard "Don't dream it's over" that I became a firm follower in the music of the band. It was a superb song, right from the opening guitar riff, through the ... My colleague the other day leant me the album Recurring Dream: The Very Best of Crowded House. This album brought back many memories for me over the years of listening to this band. Although I have heard all the songs before many times there is always something new to appreciate in these creative and original tracks. The songs on this best of album are: 1. Weather with You 2. World Where You Live 3. Fall at your Feet 4. Locked Out 5. Don't Dream it's Over 6. Into Temptation 7. Pineapple Head 8. When you come 9. Private Universe 10. Not the Girl you Think you are 11. Instinct 12. I Feel ... Read the complete review

On the sleeve to this cd it says: "British humourist Spike Milligan once recalled how he was in the throes of a nervous breakdown. Alone in bed abd crying uncontrollably. He noticed his baby daughter walking towards his bed, arms outstretched. In her hand was a glass of water. She wanted to give something. Something to make it alright. This was all ahe could find. A while ago someone asked me to sum up the music of Crowded House. For some reason I responded with that tale - perhaps because it is simultaneously the saddest and most uplifting thing I've ever heard. Like Neil Finn's voice when he sings, "I don't pretend to know what you want\But I ... Read the complete review

This compilation was released after the group had gone to pursue individual projects, so it really is a great keepsake if you like Crowded House. Even now, several years after purchase, it gets more than just the occasional playing in my house. There are 19 tracks upon this compilation, including great hits like "Fall At Your Feet", "Weather With You", "Distant Sun" and "Into Temptation". The songs are varied in sound and lyrics, from the tender and serious ("Fall At Your Feet"), the punchy ("It's Only Natural") to the often funny ("You?re Not The Girl You Think You Are"). A great ... Into The Pandemonium - Celtic Frost
Some successful experiments.
Some really bad experiments.
Hate Crew Deathroll - Children Of Bodom
Clings on to the old Bodom magic.
Disappointing departure from the classic sound.
Fears In The Water - The Vincent Black Shadow
The vocals are excellent, the guitars possess great power.
Too many of the tracks here are incredibly instrumentally repetitive.
Cold Lake - Celtic Frost
Not quite as bad as I expected.
Weak, repetitive and pointless.
