"The Red Hot Chili Peppers" was the eponymous, self-entitled release which came out in 1984. It has the LA band come together to produce an album to display their immediate influences in the music world. You must take all cultural context into account as you get the group, led by Anthony Kiedis as they do some Funk Rock. Kiedis raps much of it, and is backed by Flea on the the bass, Cliff Martinez guitaring and Jack Sherman on the percussion. 1. "True Men Don't Kill Coyotes" This is the opener to the album, and also the first single to be released by them. Personally, I don't see how it managed to draw people in because I think ... When looking at this particular album for the red hot chili peppers today, it is important to remember just how different the music was 20+ years ago, which is pretty much when this album came out (1984). In a contemporary sense this album is not worth listening to, especially when compared to the much more modern 'Californication', 'By The Way' and 'Stadium Arcadium'. However once listened to a few times this album works the old chilis magic and becomes much more appealing. If you are however, older than me and were perhaps a teenager when this album was out then then ignore the above as when it was released to you it was contemporary. The whole ... As many of you may have heard of the red hot chili peppers I wonder how many have heard this album, probably not a lot. Well if you are a chili pepper fan and you've not got this album or if you were wondering if its worth the money, I will tell you all about it. The album is not as good as the rest but it is a good start for the band. I think the album is good, though it didn't do very well when it was released because nobody had heard of it and it wasn't the kind of music people were used to. The reason I like it is because it is very funky, it has lots of great bass riffs, drum beats and the word are not to bad. The only thing I ... Read the complete review

The Best Of The Beat Farmers - Beat Farmers
Some degree of variation, and most songs are perfect examples of the style.
Too much focus on the light country style for general consumers.
Out Of The Grave And Into The Dark - Balzac
'Came Out of the Grave' is great, and 'Dark-Ism' is a reasonable follow-up.
The second album lacks imagination, and is duller.
Houston We Have A Drinking Problem - Bad Astronaut
Some melodic and sad elements.
Dominated by less impressive pop rock.
Chthonic Chronicles - Bal Sagoth
The band finally gets it together, and perfects its distinctive sound.
Not easily accessible.
Came Out Of The Grave - Balzac
Balzac's best album, perfecting their style.
Some songs are still a little weak and over-repetitive.
Beyond The Darkness - Balzac
The least worst of Balzac thus far, highlighting their various styles.
Some material is still weak.
Battle Magic - Bal Sagoth
Continuing to re-define the sound.
I'm not so fond of the direction change.
Atlantis Ascendant - Bal Sagoth
More of the same.
More of the same.
Acrophobe - Bad Astronaut
Mostly successful mix of pop, rock and light punk without any of the bad bits.
When it slides into pop punk territory, sick bags may be required.
The Power Cosmic - Bal Sagoth
Interesting, temporary change of direction.
Metal instruments now entirely confined to background duty.
