Advantages: Some Great Tracks

Disadvantages: Sometimes takes the lyrics too far

So Eminem returns after being out of the rapping game for around five years. Now let me make it clear that whatever opinions anyone has on Eminem, he has definitely been a huge influence in the music industry and is definitely in a league of his own in terms of his lyrical content and style and the fact that he is by far the biggest white rapper in the world and arguably the biggest rapper in the world.

You would think after five years out that Eminem would have been past his gruesome lyrics, however they are back and bigger and better than before. He raps about murdering people, incest, rape and a whole lot of other disgusting topics, but really he does not mean any of it in an offensive way. A lot of us have gruesome thoughts, like maybe someone who you hate that you wonder what life would be like if they were gone, not that any harm is ever meant by it. Eminem just puts these thoughts into words and does them with some style.

Personally my favourite album of Eminem's was the Marshall Mathers LP, this was a stunning album that produces hits such as Stan and The Way I Am. For me these two tracks are in my all time classic rap songs and another has been added from his current album in the form of 'Beautiful'. He mixes rap with singing to make a mesmerizing track about how if you want to know what he has gone through you should trade shoes and just generally that life is messed up and fame is not as glamorous as it seems.

Other highlights include Hello, DejaVu and the commercially released tracks We Made You and Crack A Bottle. It is great to see Dr Dre on some tracks on the album as well and after all he is the one that gave Eminem a massive leap into the industry. Expect the usual skits in this album and the regulars like Paul and Ken Kaniff which are amusing as always.

Of course Eminem is known for his ability to offend a lot of different celebs on this albums. What people need to remember is that this just harmless fun, a lot of the time he just picks a random celeb that he knows nothing about, just because their name rhymes with another word or something like this. Yes a lot of what he says is very gruesome, but I don't think it really causes any harm and at the end of the day it increases the publicity for the album and any publicity is good publicity. There is a disturbing mimicking of Christopher Reeve, where he takes the mick of of Reeve and himself and does an impression of the great man. Then there is a skit after this from Paul, which basically states what every listener is thinking which is that doesn't Eminem know that Christopher Reeve has passed away. This would be the only time I think Eminem steps over the line.

Overall this is a very good album and a great comeback from Mr Mathers, hopefully now he can push onto the next level and hopefully his best days aren't behind him. Whatever happens in the future he will definitely go down as one of the greatest players in the rap industry.

Summary: Eminem at his flowing best

I've always quite liked eminem, but this album is just 'more of the same'...not original enough to exite

He's been away for five years but hasn't progressed "musically" at all. Nicely reviewed, but not for me thanks.
