Advantages: Great celebrity put downs in lyrics

Disadvantages: SELF OBSESSED ALBUM

Eminem returns after a lengthy absence with his new album Relapse with the same vigour of previous albums.
There is no doubting that Eminem is one of the best rappers around and his lyrics in this album prove this. In We Made You he rhymes about many celebrities including the lesbian couple Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson with the rhyme, 'Samantha's a two/You're practically a ten', which is a cruel dig at Ronson although he also attacks Amy Winehuse and Jessica Simpson among others.
Deja Vu and Old Time's Sake appear to be songs aimed at his time in rehab as he raps about personal issues.
Bagpipes from Baghdad takes a jab at political issues in the world while Same Song and Dance is a pleasant little hit.
Nonetheless, the album covers familiar territory as he raps about celebrity culture in We Made You and his mother in My Mom. All the songs are Eminem self-obsessing about his life and the issues he has faced. I would have liked to have seen him rap about new situations in the world or in his private life.
Relapse is a good album, but nothing we haven't already heard from Eminem.

Summary: Eminem returns repeating old ground!

It would be great if you could include a track listing here, maybe tell us a bit about how the album made you feel, compare it more to previous work and that of his contemporaries...what did you like, what did you not like? If you update let me know and I'll be happy to re rate.
