People at my college in London are going on about all these different bands making strong headway in this, the UK's "Year of Rock" (according to the music press). Bands such as Papa Roach, Linkin Park and (shudder) the abysmal Limp Bizkit, have seen an immense increase in popularity and recognition among alternative and mainstream groups. But no one seems to mention At the drive-in, who in my opinion, with Relationship of Command, have created one of the most viscerally powerful and exciting rock albums in the last 10 years. I'm not joking about when I say this is exciting music. The first time I heard "sleepwalk capsules", a song that showcases Cedric Bixler's dynamic vocal talents, I nearly fell off my chair! It was the only song I needed to hear before I realised I was listening to something extra special. I bought the album almost straight after that and have not looked back since. All of the songs are exhilarating, punchy rock, not one track can be described as a filler, but the standout songs are:

Arcarsenal: Brilliant, brilliant opener. Fast, great bass playing and those trademark Cedric Bixler angry vocals!

One armed Scissor: AMAZING guitars, yet so simple in practice (it is the genius of this band). Cool vocals again, and an excellent mix from this song into...

Sleepwalk capsules: If you began to chill out once you though One armed scissor had ended, prepare to have your ears bombarded with the most brilliant opening 20 seconds of punk rock ever recorded. You really have to hear it to believe it. Turn your stereo UP for full effect.

Rolodex Propoganda: The song many seem to try to compare with limp bizkit, but that would be an insult to At the drive-in. Again perfect vocal delivery from Mr Bixler (well, maybe not perfect! - see the lyrics booklet when you buy it), with original guitar playing and iggy pop on top form! What more do you want?

So all in all, this is a great, great alb
um, that has to be bought by anyone who is interested in Nu-metal, minus the teeny boppers...
