The Singles - FeederFeeder or Feedud ?? (769 words)
by -Randy- - written on 01/07/07 (Very useful, 54 readings)
_First Look_ The Singles is a great view of the past for one of Englands execptional rock bands. With such success, F Feeder suffered their biggest loss in 2002 when drummer Jon Lee committed suicide . Surviving that alone could have ended it all, but the passion of Feeders songs allowed the group to keep it together. Singles is the heart of all of that and a warm look at where they re going. Singles features 20 quality tracks. Sure, it would have been great if it was ordered according to release date, but the track listing is a cohesive mix of groundbreaking and reflective tunes that everyone will enjoy. What was once a post punk Band is now a well respected rock band ...

Well I’ve liked F Feeder for a while now but to be honest I only knew a couple of their songs. So when a couple of friends of mine went to see them in concert and said they were excellent I thought I should get better acquainted with them. The best way to do this is to listen to their best songs which are all fortunately listed on their album the Singles. 1)Come Back Around The first track starts off the album with a nice beat, some vocals and then goes full into a guitar solo with the chorus. The song starts off simple with only a few beats and turns back into this a few times during the song. Between this beat comes a full on rock song with the catchy chorus, meaty ...

The Band F Feeder were originally formed in 1992 but came together in 1995 when Grant Nicholas and Jon Lee met Taka Hirose in London. They brought out a mini-album in 1996 named ‘Swim’, which consisted of six rock songs. In 1997 the band brought out their debut album ‘Polythene’. This was entitled ‘Album Of The Year’ in the magazine ‘Metal Hammer’. Over the summer they played festivals across the country that included a new song called ‘High’. This song was their biggest hit yet reaching number 24 in the singles charts and received blanket daytime radio play. Through 1998 feeder toured in America until returning home to make their next album titled ‘Yesterday Went Too ...

Pleasant lead guitars, and an insight into the early years of melodic death metal.
It's all about the guitars, and even those aren't particularly stunning.

Excellent song structure, riffs, vocals and lyrics
Whilst fitting the songs very well, the simplistic and repetitive drums may irritate some.

Poor production in parts.
