Rent - Soundtrack

As a massive fan of the film I absolutely adore the soundtrack. A big part of the film's appeal to me is its soundtrack. I'm not going to do a song by song evaluation for this album; as it clocks in at thirty-eight track long I'll be here forever. What you will find on this album is all of the songs from the movie, pretty much as they appear in the film. A few sound a bit more polished, but the majority of them sound like they were lifted right out of the film. There are a few extras here, for example the song Halloween, which was taken out of the film. The music for Rent is unusual at times, a little pop, a little rock and a whole lot of raunch. Then there are blends of other styles and emotions which overule the general feeling for a while. However, it is one of the most singable show CDs ever. Immediately after seeing the show I bought the CD in the foyer at the concessions stand, so entranced was I by what I had seen and heard. Years later, I'm still entirely in love with the music and I drive around singing to it in my car frequently, it has an amazing feel good factor if still a little dischordant at times.
