Advantages: So many great tunes

Disadvantages: Little repetitive

With so many rappers situated in the Westside of America like Dr Dre, Eminem, and Snoop Dogg, Xzibit is left in the shadows a bit. I am a huge rap fan. I first started listening to Puff Daddy and the Notorious BIG. Then Eminem came on the scene so like any teenager I bought the slim shady LP. The producer Dr Dre also appeared in many songs so I also bought his album and since then I have never really looked at the eastside (except wu-tang they rule!!). I also listen to NWA Ice Cube and Snoop Dogg. I also own a copy of “The Up In Smoke Tour” a superb video consisting of many Westside rappers touring America. Other rappers who appear on this video include, Nate Dogg, Mack 10, WC and Xzibit. I hadn’t really heard of Xzibit until I really delved deep into the Westside hip-hop nation.

Xzibit is a rapper who has so to say “his own style” he is like Eminem not looks of course, they both have voices, which stand out. He has his hair platted back in locks and expresses extreme facial expressions while rapping. Having had a recommendation of one of his songs (X) a friend I downloaded it from napster. The tune itself is great it is a great rap tune and competes with Dr Dre and Snoop. Well it doesn’t compete at all it compares well with Dr Dre and Snoop, but is this because it has Snoop Dogg appearing in it and well with Dr Dre producing the album it must be good.

The album itself having listened to it several times is superb Xzibit has really proved he is a great rapper and can produce (with the help from Dre) an absolutely superb album.
Like most Dre albums it kicks off with an intro, it consists of people talking about the release of his new album. This intro really allows you to get into the album before it really kicks off. The next few tunes leading up to X (# 5) are really cool. Xzibit really kicks off the album with some fantastic rapping in “Font 2 Back.” Nate Dogg appears in the next song and Dre
in the following song. The addition of these great rappers proves Xzibit has the abilty to rap in a duo and shows he isn’t selfish just rapping on his, I mean he did invite these rappers in!!! X then really thumps in it is such a great tune. The Snoop Dogg part at the end is really cool the lyrics are great it really expresses Snoop for what he’s like. What does he say?? All Snoop does is express how supreme Xzibit is, I couldn’t count the number of describing words in that phrase.

Other great rappers which appear on this album are, KRS one, Erick Sermon, J-Ro & Tash both from tha liks, Eminem also appears in another super tune “Don’t Approach Me.” Defari also appears along with goldie-loc and Dj Quick plus many more. The album consists of 16 rockin’ tunes.

I would definitely recommend it to a friend especially if they like Dr Dre or any other gangster rapper. I give this album 9/10 and having heard it have considered seeing Xzibit in concert!!!
