Where to start... this album is possibly the ultimate best in metal, one of the best albums of all time. And there's alot to back up such a strong opinion. The album is pretty much about death and dying, in different forms. There is all the usual Metallica talent, with some of the greatest riffs and solos they ever produced. Starting with a quite deceivingly gentle melody, "Fight Fire With Fire" is a great starter for one of the definitive albums of heavy metal, with it's high speed riffage. It is a very intense track to say the least. "Fade To Black" is a huge contender for the best Metallica song of all-time, written about suidide. The last track "The Call Of Ktulu", an instrumental, adds that something extra to an already great album. Metallica are without a doubt one of the best bands of all time, and in my opinion this is their best album. Absolutely incredible, a must-own album.
