Gabrielle's new album Rise has had both acclaim and many bad things said about it. I'm hear to say some really good things about it. This isn't the sort of album I get a lot. I am more of a Radiohead, Ash, Starsailor and Muse sort of person, but my father lent me a copy of this album and said I'd really like it. So I stuck it in to the, shock, horror, CD-burner and took a copy. I've been listening to this copy and I must say it's a really great album. I would highly reccomend obtaining a copy of this. From the uplifting tracks like 'Sunshine' through to the really nice, acoustic version of Rise (last track) this track is something ... Read the complete review

I have never really been a massive fan of Gabrielle, I enjoyed her much remembered 1993 number 1 hit ‘Dreams’ and her duet in 1996 with bad boys East 17 ‘If You Ever’, I know all her other hits but they are not particularly memorable and therefore I have never thought much of the lass to tell you the truth. But she does have her good points for which I am about to list below on one stunning album, that album is 'Rise'. Recently when I bought a Now album actually it was Now 47, and Gabrielle features on disc 2 at the very end, the track was ‘Should I Stay’ which if you will forgive me is a mushy ballad. Anyway what has ... Read the complete review

She covers every emotion that we go through when we are in or out of love. From the moment that we meet, the uncertainity of our feelings, breaking up, anger and rejection to wanting to start again. There isn't a single song that you couldn't relate to. You could sing along and mean every word as if you were saying them to the person you were thinking of at the time. I bought this album after I heard 'Rise'.How many of us sing this one with gusto when we have split up with our partners! It reminded me of 'I will survive' and that became many womens' national anthem. Definately worth keeping on continous ... Read the complete review

Gonna Get Better - 4/5 There is no argument here, Garielle is very talented, and Rise is a great edition to any CD collection. But the problem comes in the fact that a lot of her songs sound very similar, personally, I love her duets and would have liked to hear some of them on here. Fact: Gabrielle doesn't make a bad album, but I still think there is some better material still to come from her! ... Read the complete review

Album Review: Gabrielle ? Rise Sunshine: As the opening guitar broken chords of this track come in, you can feel a smooth, sophisticated opening to Gabrielle?s third album, unlike anything on her first two outings. Lyrically this is one of her strongest tracks ever and as the strings come in, in the second verse, you can feel a genuinely brilliant build up to this song. Finally, at the third chorus, there is the subdominant key change, which is so uplifting and gets the feeling of hope and optimism across excellently. This mid-tempo slice of soul is very LighthouseFamily-esque and is all the better for it. A great opening. 9/10 Rise: You all know this ... Read the complete review

There are a couple of remotely interesting moments.
Most of the album is despicably dull.

The album is packed full of atmosphere, the music is action packed from start to finish.
Some of the tracks are quite long, this could put some people off listening.
The Beyond - Cult Of Luna

Terra - Cronian
Side helping for fans of modern Borknagar, with good vocals and guitar.
Less impressive than the primary band.
