i bought this sublime's record 3 months ago. I used to listen ska-punk music, but I've never heard such a great album!!!! Sublime's style is a mixture of ska, reggae, hip-hop, crossover and punk music. I found this live CD very very good and at the moment it is one my fauvorite ever. The bass line in the music is excellent and ...

Sublime - Sublime

Premium Review Summer Ska (672 words)

this. As for an English band to compare them to, I can’t really find one! They are probably closest to a laid-back Specials but Sublime are a typically Californian ska band. This is definitely a “summer” album. To sample it at it’s best, listen while drinking a long cool drink on a hot summer’s day. You won’t be disappointed. If you’d like to sample “Sublime” before you shell out your hard-earned pennies, you can listen to excepts at http://sublime.sonicnet.com ...

to write this review for the good of all ska fans. First thing I must make clear if you're going to purchase "Sublime" don't expect a less than jake record, Sublime go for a more Ska sound with a sniffter of punk, while Less thean jake have a punk sound with lashings of ska. Now that we've got that out of the way this is one of the best sublime records it is much more accesable than "Robbin' The Hood" or "40 oz. To Freedom" the Cd has got a damn good catchy style that grabs your brain and infests it. Stand out tracks are "Wrong Way", "Seed", "Same In The End" and "Santeria", basically ...

An excellent album of ska punk, fantastically fun to listen to. If you don't like ska punk you'll hate this.

Great Sound, Great Feeling Fades at times

they rock! no one

Great Lyrics, Great Singing, Great Instruments Not Sublimes best workA couple of weak links

Bringing major label songs to their major label debut! You might hate reggae. Even then, you should give this a try!

An energetic and exciting album of pop heavy punk rock music. Don't be silly.

The Sane Asylum - Blind Illusion
One of the finest and most interesting thrash performances of the eighties. Vocals are the weakest aspect, and the band never recorded anything else.

Sounds Of The Animal Kingdom - Brutal Truth
Fast. Little substance.

Sacrifice - Black Widow
Early occult prog, with a fun gimmick if nothing else. Some experiments are less successful than others, particularly the chanting to Satan.

Perspective - Jason Becker
More Jason Becker material, in spite of his condition. Some experiments are less successful.

Kill Trend Suicide - Brutal Truth
Powerful performance. Repetitive, and only an E.P.

Goodbye Cruel World: Live & Rare Tracks - Brutal Truth
Heavy Metal - 1999

Bleed The Grey Sky Black - Bella Morte
Modern gothic rock that everyone can enjoy, even pretentious bigots like me. Lighter and poppier songs are disappointing compared to the more experimental offerings.

Blackberry Jams - Jason Becker
Some more material unearthed from Becker's all-too-brief musical career. Even less consistent than the previous collection.

Bestial - Black Cobra
Highly talented sludge doom from a two-man-band. Later songs make strange use of silence, which only gets in the way, but can presumably be skipped.
